Hi John,Listened to you last night on Coast to Coast. Like yourself, I agree that there are no such things as "demons/devils". I believe that there are "inter-dimensional" beings, some who are good and some who are bad, just like human beings. I also believe that these inter dimensional beings CAN "possess" people and inhabit their bodies. Since I have experience living in a Muslim country, muslims call these being "Djinn".I have seen these creatures on 2 separate occasions. While living in Tunis, Tunisia, I awoke from a nap (but had not opened my eyes yet), and I was extremely surprised to see 2 cat like eyes staring at me. AS I studied them, I noticed that they would blink once in a while and the curious thing was that there was a "ring of leaves...I think olive tree leaves"....circling the eyes. Odd. The next day after my nap, the same thing!! This time I told it to leave and it did. Never saw it again.
Some interesting ideas, thanks. I would agree with you that such beings are just like humans; some good, some bad;
From what I understand, Djinn are "imitators" and we humans are "creators". It is believed that Djinn can appear to humans in any form they wish. Usually, first appearing as 2 disembodied eyeballs. It seems that all of these stories of elves, fairies, aliens, shadow people, etc., could be related to various manifestations of Djinn, for lack of a better word. They are said to be thousands of years ahead of us technology wise and always around us though we cannot see them. Some are good and some are bad.I've also heard some stories that the US Government is trying to capture these beings to get a hold of the technology. Don't know how true that is.I've also read about the theory that humans can "create" thought forms that actually become "real" or physical, if enough people believe them to be real. Yet, another possibility to explain this phenomena.Who knows? But I find it fascinating as I have had an experience myself that leads me to believe there is something there.
There have been reports of Tibetan monks that have been able to create living, breathing thoughtforms, called tulpas, through their practice of deep meditation over long periods of time.
Hermeticist Franz Bardon, in his book "Intiation into Hermetics", gives direction on how to create these beings with your mind. He also talks about "elemental" beings (what the arabic culture would call djinn). His book is an introduction into Magic.While I lived in Tunisia, as an American, I was very surprised to see that "Magic" is still being practiced by many people. My neighbor was constantly going to magicians to get spells (weird writing on pieces of paper) to help get what she wanted in life. I was told that Morocco is that absolute pinnacle for knowledge of Magic and people working with Djinn.Also, tales of Djinn and little people who live underground (and who can give you precious stones or gold coins if you catch them) were told to me in reference to people that have seen them and interacted with them. I wasn't sure how to react to these stories but since my experience there, I'm inclined to think that there is something there.Dr. Hank Wesselman, who is an anthropologist, also claims to have had experiences with djinn in Ethiopia and Egypt.I think the key is to strip away the cultural aspects of these experiences and then we can get to the bare bones facts of these phenomena and experiences. Its' got me thinking that there is a phenomena of "earth bound, extra dimensional" beings that can materialize in the physical realm but live in other spirit realms (perhaps the realms that our senses can't detect, such as ultra violet spectrum). Now the question is where do human spirits (ghosts) and extra terrestrials fit into this picture?
Thanks for those intriguing comments. I'll need to look up that book!
Hi John. Thanks for the comments.Some other books that may be of interest to you:"Magic That Really Works" by Frances Morrison and Ninevah Shadrach. This work concentrates on magic in the Arabic tradition. Djinn are mentioned and stories of them being able to engage in "time incongruities" much like UFO or fairy abductees report."Supernatural" by Graham Hancock. Looks at experiences of visiting "other dimensions" with help of plant called Ayahuasca with guidance of a shaman. Compares these experiences with alien abduction and northern European fairy abduction stories. Seems to be the same experience in a different cultural context. "DMT: The Spirit Molecule" by Rick Strassman. University study giving people hallucinogen DMT and their experiences. Again, lots of encounters with elf like people, aliens, clowns, etc.....I know that psychic Lorraine Warren sometimes talks about enities that are "not human" when she is at investigations. Many people think that these are demons. I don't think so. These seem to be elementals or djinn that don't have the best intentions toward humans. Some of these beings may "feed" off of negative emotional energy. Thus people hearing voices telling them to do bad things...encouraging the people to stay in a negative emotional state. I've heard other researchers call them "parasites". Many times they are shadow people.Does this make sense to you?
Thanks again for all the material. I think I've got a few hours of reading time cut out for me!Lorraine Warren takes a strong religious stance in her investigations so she generally considers inhuman beings to be demons. While I don't think the same way, there is room for her point of view.
Hi John,Yes, I think there is room for her point of view. No one knows. I agree with you though. If you are going to research something, you have to try to step outside of any cultural context as it can contaminate your observations and conclusions. You want to look at the experience in a "pure" state, if that makes sense.I know you believe that "possessions" are more likely psychological events. I tend to favor that they are not. I think that some people have "chemical imbalances" or something else, where the veil between the two worlds is not as stable as it is for most people. This may allow these entities a "gateway" to get into these people. At least in some of the cases, maybe more often then not. Also, "multiple personalities" could be as result of this or simply that a persons past lives may all be mixing together. I think the current world view is that the mind is the creator. I think the soul is the creator and is the driver of the mind.Anyways, these are all good questions and difficult to answer. As you said, there is a lot of room for everyone's point in this field.Since you have a lot of practical experience, which I do not, I want to ask you this?In your experience, do you find that people involved in these experiences are in more or less a negative state of mind? Or is there a history of a very negative experience that happened at the location at one point?Thanks,Mike
Mike, I would say not necessarily negative. The key seems to be that there is a strong emotional/psychological context with either the person, the location, or both.
John,I didn't preface the question correctly. I was referring to the cases where the people think or claim that there is a negative entity involved.In other words, I'm trying to figure out if these negative entities could be drawn to the location or a person within a strong negative emotional context.For example, if someone died in the house that they loved and lived a happy life in, then one might expect that any ghostly activity there would be protective let's say. And in this situation, we would not expect a negative entity.But, let's say we have an abandoned mental hospital, where all sorts of terrible things went on, or a prison where the same types of things happened. There may be an abundance of negative emotional/psychological residue at these locations. Here is where I would expect not only human spirit activity but also possibly negative entities there too.Have you found this to be true, in general, in your experiences?
Yes, I would say that was accurate.
Hi John,Thanks for the reply.OK...so, do you do anything to protect yourself from negative entities that you may encounter in your investigations?Also, are you going to be doing any investigation ins the near future? I would be interested in hearing about future findings.Thanks,Mike
I always recommend a prayer of protection at the beginning of an investigation and one at the conclusion, before leaving the premises.As for future investigations, I have nothing scheduled right now, as I will be busy promoting my new book, "Ghosthunting Ohio: On the Road Again"--but I'm sure something will come up soon.
